Meet Vance

Vance Zemon, Ph.D.

Biography

Vance Zemon received a B.S. degree in physics from Clarkson College of Technology (presently Clarkson University) in 1973 and graduate degrees in experimental psychology from Northeastern University in 1976 (M.A.) and 1979 (Ph.D.). Following a National Institutes of Health postdoctoral associateship in the Laboratory of Biophysics at The Rockefeller University (1979-1982), he held positions of research associate and assistant professor at that institution from 1982-1992), and then served as a member of the adjunct faculty there. Since 1992, Vance has held the position of associate professor and then professor in the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine campus of Yeshiva University, where he teaches systems neuroscience, physiological psychology, perception, and statistics. In addition, he is a consultant at the Nathan Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research in Orangeburg, NY, and he serves on the Scientific Advisory Board and Institutional Review Board of Blythedale Children’s Hospital in Valhalla, NY. He is a consulting editor for several journals.

Teaching & Research Interests

Specialties: visual neuroscience, emphasis in evoked brain potentials, psychophysics, and neural models, with clinical research in neural development, psychiatric, neurologic, and ophthalmic disorders. Neurologic disorders include autism, schizophrenia, and traumatic-brain injury, among others.
